Who is the course for?
The RYA Sea Survival course is for anyone who uses a boat, whether commercially or for pleasure.
What's it all about?
The one day RYA Sea Survival course covers all aspects of survival at sea and how to use a liferaft. The knowledge and experience gained is not only fun and educational, but also will increase your chances of a successful rescue.
What do I get?
The RYA Basic Sea Survival Course Completion certificate is awarded on satisfactory completion of the course.
What do I need to bring?
You will need old clothing like a tracksuit etc (not jeans) to wear in the water, and a towel.You may bring your own waterproofs and footwear, but these must be clean. If you have your own lifejacket then this might be a good time to test it. Re-arming kits can be purchased ini the Andark shop.
What does the course cover?
The course is classroom and pool based requiring a degree of physical ability, please contact us with any questions. The theory discusses the need for survival routines and the equipment available. The pool session covers abandoning the vessel, in-water and liferaft survival procedures and righting an up turned liferaft, all in our onsite swimming pool.
