The Dive Partner course is designed to train certified divers in how to accompany disabled divers. It is recommended that trained Dive Partners who are friends, relatives, etc, follow the training course of the disabled individual whom they later plan to dive with.
Prerequisite qualifying courses
- Submit proof of Rescue Diver training, including training in CPR and First Aid within the past 24 months.
- Have a minimum of 30 logged dives, with experience in navigation and night diving.

What the course covers
A variety of different disabilities are considered, with training in the classroom and pool. There are then four open water dives.
What it will cost and what you'll need
- Course Fee: POA
- Log book: from £5.95
- Site entrance fee: There is an entrance fee for open water dives requiring entry to an inland site, payable daily by the student. Current fees: Horsea Island: £10.00.
- Mask, snorkel, boots and fins (Gloves are also recommended). Student discounts available on all these items in the Andark shop.
- Submit a copy of a medical examination stating that the individual is fit for diving. The examination must be conducted within the past 12 months.
