PADI Underwater Photographer

The PADI Underwater Photographer Specialty course can help you learn how to take your first underwater photographs or fine tune your existing skills to produce photographs that will stun your friends.

What the course covers

  • You'll learn the basics of underwater photography such as composition, film type and camera handling, with special emphasis on practical techniques. You'll learn underwater photography dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also learn how to care for and maintain your camera equipment.
  • The two day course includes one day's theory and pool practice and two open water dives.

What it will cost, and what you'll need

  • Course Fee: £99.00
  • Manual: £24.95
  • Camera and film: You can use your own camera (for digital, see PADI Digital Underwater Photography) , or one of Andark's cameras. Film users will need to purchase a 100 ASA 35mm film, and pay for developing and printing.
  • Site entrance fee: There is an entrance fee for open water dives requiring entry to an inland site, payable daily by the student. Current fees: Horsea Island: £10.00, Stoney Cove £15.00. Boat fees, where applicable, start at £15.00 per dive.
  • Mask, Snorkel, Boots and Fins (Gloves are also recommended for the winter months). Student discounts available on all these items in the Andark shop.
  • Medical Declaration (details on Course Booking and Payment page)
  • Proof of qualification and experience, (log book and cards), must be provided on day one of the course.
  • Children under 12 MUST attend a video evening with a parent or guardian before attending a PADI course - £15.00

All courses run from 9am to 5:30pm (approximately) and a minimum of 3 people is required for a course to run, unless otherwise stated.

  1. Phone us to check the availibility of the course that you have chosen, and the dates you wish to attend.
  2. Download and complete the booking form, and return to us by post.
  3. Download and complete the medical declaration form, and return to us by post.
